Teva
About Teva
40 Years of Adventure and Counting
The original sport sandal emerged from the shores of the Grand Canyon back in 1984. To prevent sandals from floating downstream, a smart thinking river guide strapped two Velcro watchbands to a pair of old flip-flops and just like that, Teva was born.
BRAND PROMISE.
The original icon was created to give people the freedom to roam. We inspire those who crave experiences and connections, in whatever form they take. That self-defining idea of freedom still holds true today. We live for moments of discovery and awe. Finding newness and wonder in each new experience — from the everyday to epic. We’re forever hungry for knowledge gained by experiencing the world through different cultures, people, and places. Day in and day out, we strive to be your guide for adventure in whatever form you choose.

Our Planet, Our Promise
100% of our iconic straps are now made using recycled plastic, reducing our impact so future generations are free to explore the wild world around them.
We transitioned 100% of our iconic straps to traceable verifiable recycled plastic using REPREVE® yarn. Since then, we’ve diverted 40 million plastic bottles from landfills and put them to better use, strapping sandals to your feet.
Seeking beauty in new places, from water bottles to plastic pieces.
684 tonnes of used plastic bottles are cleaned, shredded and turned into little pellets. That’s over 684,000 kilos of plastic that won’t end up in the ocean, being mistaken for sea turtle food.
Transforming plastic waste into Teva webbing.
The cleaned and prepped pellets are then spun into yarn, and that yarn gets woven into the ultra-strong webbing in our footwear.
Webbing makes straps that connect your sandals to you.
Since converting 100% of our iconic straps to recycled plastic in 2020, we’ve kept more than 40 million plastic bottles out of landfills. We’re turning waste that pollutes the planet into something that helps you explore it.
